Barenboim leads Staatskapelle Berlin in St. Petersburg

Prior to the Orchestra’s 2013-14 opening night on September 15, Daniel Barenboim leads the Staatskapelle Berlin in two concerts at St. Petersburg’s Mikhailovsky Theatre. On September 8, Maestro continues his celebration of Wagner’s bicentennial with the Overture to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and the Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde, as well as Richard Strauss’s tone poem Ein Heldenleben. The following evening features Schubert’s “Unfinished” Symphony No. 8 paired with Elgar’s Symphony No. 2.
