Yesterday Daniel Barenboim led the Staatskapelle Berlin and tenor Rolando Villazón in the European premiere of Elliott Carter’s A Sunbeam’s Architecture.
"I am thrilled that this cycle saw its successful European premiere," said Maestro. "I am happy for the Staatskapelle, for Rolando, and especially in memoriam of my friend Elliott Carter."
Carter’s song cycle for tenor and orchestra is set to poems by E.E. Cummings. The late American composer’s composition was presented alongside his Concertino for Bass Clarinet and Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, "Haffner" Symphony, and select concert arias, sung by Villazón.
