This January and February, General Music Director Daniel Barenboim conducts four performances of Richard Strauss’s Elektra at the Staatsoper unter den Linden.
The Patrice Chereau production features Evelyn Herlitzius as Elektra, the mythical daughter of King Agamemnon, who obsessively seeks vengeance against her mother Klytämnestra for the murder of Agammenon. The cast also includes Waltraud Meier (Klytämnestra), Vida Miknevičiūtė (Chrysothemis), Stephan Rügamer (Aegisth), and René Pape (Orest).
Performances are held at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden on 27 January, 3, 16, and 24 February.
