On 1 July, Daniel Barenboim joins current and former members of the Staatskapelle Berlin’s orchestra academy for a 20-year celebration of the program.
In 1998 Barenboim led efforts to start an ensemble of young musicians who would gain insight into the life of a top orchestral musician by “learning through doing.” Now, many former academy musicians hold positions with orchestras in Germany, including the Staatskapelle itself, and around the world.
The festivities on 1 July are held at the newly-renovated Staatsoper Unter den Linden.
