This April, Daniel Barenboim and the Staatskapelle Berlin travel to London and Paris for a concert tour that includes Bruckner’s last three symphonies as well as two Mozart concerti, featuring the maestro as conductor and soloist. They begin their tour at London’s Royal Festival Hall on April 16 with a program that includes Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7, a work recorded live by Barenboim and the Staatskapelle and now available from Deutsche Grammophon. For their second London concert on April 16, Barenboim and the Staatskapelle present Bruckner’s Symphony No. 8.
From London, Barenboim and the orchestra head to Paris for two concerts at the Salle Pleyel. On April 17, they reprise their London program of Bruckner’s Seventh and Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24. The following evening, Barenboim and the Staatskapelle pair Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 22 with Bruckner’s Ninth Symphony. They return to London with this same program on the final stop of their tour at the Royal Festival Hall on April 20.
