Barenboim Conducts Brahms with the Staatskapelle Berlin

On January 21 and 22, Daniel Barenboim conducts the Staatskapelle Berlin in two performances of Brahms’s Symphonies No. 3 and 4. Brahms struggled for years to perfect his symphonies, beginning composition of his first symphony as early as 1855 and premiering the work in 1876. Notably influenced by his musical predecessors, particularly Beethoven, Brahms’s sense of tradition is combined with Brahms’s own innovative sound and expression.

Listen to Daniel Barenboim conduct the Staatskapelle Berlin on his album, Brahms: Symphonies.
