Betrothal in a Monastery and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at Staatsoper Berlin

This April, General Music Director Daniel Barenboim conducts two operas, Prokofiev’s Betrothal in a Monastery and Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Staatsoper unter den Linden.

On April 13, 17, and 22, Barenboim conducts Prokofiev’s spirited comedy of errors, Betrothal in a Monastery, featuring Stephan Rügamer (Don Jerome), Andrey Zhilikhovsky (Don Ferdinand), Aida Garifullina (Luisa), Violeta Urmana (Die Duenna), Bogdan Volkov (Don Antonio), and Anna Goryachova (Clara). Dmitri Tcherniakov directs.

On April 14, 18, and 21, Barenboim conducts Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Directed by Andrea Moses, the production features Wolfgang Koch (Hans Sachs), Kwangchul Youn (Veit Pogner), Julia Kleiter (Eva), and Burkhard Fritz (Walther von Stolzing).
