Conducting the Ring Cycle at Staatsoper unter den Linden

This September, Daniel Barenboim conducts the complete Ring Cycle at Staatsoper unter den Linden, leading performances of Das Rheingold (September 7 and 21), Die Walküre (September 8 and 22), Siegfried (September 11 and 26), and Götterdämmerung (September 15 and 29).

The revival of the Guy Cassiers production features an all-star cast, including Michael Volle, Roman Trekel, Simon O’Neill, Ekaterina Gubanova, Anna Samuil, Anja Kampe, Andreas Schager, and Iréne Theorin.

A premier Wagnerian, Barenboim has led several artistic initiatives devoted to the master operatic composer, including the three-week festival “Wagner and Modernism” with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, a Wagner marathon at the Staatsoper Berlin in 2002, and a recording of Wagner’s Tannhäuser with the Staatskapelle Berlin, which won the 2003 Grammy Award.
