Daniel Barenboim celebrates Pierre Boulez’s 90th with Wiener Philharmoniker

Daniel Barenboim marks the 90th birthday of iconic composer Pierre Boulez as he leads the Wiener Philharmoniker in a special concert on March 27, 2015 at the Philharmonie Berlin. The program pays homage to Boulez with two of the composer’s works: Livre pour cordes for string orchestra and Originel from …explosante-fixe…. Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, “Unfinished,” rounds out the program.

Barenboim also highlights Pierre Boulez’s landmark birthday with the release of a new recording of Schoenberg’s Violin and Piano Concerti, performed with the Wiener Philharmoniker, Pierre Boulez as conductor, Daniel Barenboim as conductor and pianist, and violinist Michael Barenboim. The new album is available exclusively from iTunes on Barenboim’s Peral Music digital label, and can be purchased here.
