Maestro Barenboim was named Grand Croix de la Légion d’Honneur by French president Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday, December 12. Pianist Martha Argerich, a childhood friend and longtime collaborator of Barenboim’s, was also honored with the title of Commandeur.
