Deutsche Grammophon Releases Barenboim’s Complete Berlioz Recordings

On January 25, Deutsche Grammophon presents one of the most significant collections of Berlioz’s major works: Daniel Barenboim’s Complete Berlioz Recordings on DG with the Orchestre de Paris. Marking 150 years since the death of Berlioz, this limited edition set features performances from Plácido Domingo, Jessye Norman and Kiri Te Kanawa as Barenboim conducts the Orchestra de Paris.

As Music Director of the Orchestra de Paris (1975-1989), Barenboim explored and recorded the great works of Berlioz with France’s finest musicians. Throughout this collection, Barenboim demonstrates the value of using thoroughly idiomatic French choral and orchestral forces, and together with the Orchestre de Paris, relishes the inventiveness of Berlioz’ orchestration.

Highlights of the 10-CD collection include Symphonie fantastique, Op. 14; Roméo et Juliette, Op. 17; La Damnation de Faust, Op. 24; and Béatrice et Bénédict.
