This December and January, General Music Director Daniel Barenboim leads the Staatsoper Berlin in performances of Falstaff, Verdi’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor.
Directed by Mario Martone, the production features Michael Volle as the eponymous Sir John Falstaff, a devious swindler who attempts to win the affections of two wealthy married women. The cast also includes Alfredo Daza, Francesco Demuro, Barbara Frittoli, Nadine Sierra, and Katharina Kammerloher.
Performances are held at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden on 20, 23, and 25 December and 1 January.
