Festival Barenboim at Teatro Colón

Daniel Barenboim returns to his native Argentina for Festival Barenboim, a nine-performance residency at Buenos Aires’s Teatro Colón.

For the first time ever, General Music Director Barenboim brings a Staatsoper Berlin opera production to the Teatro Colón. He leads performances of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, directed by Harry Kupfer and featuring Peter Seiffert (Tristan), Anja Kampe (Isolde on 11/7 and 14/7), Iréne Theorin (Isolde on 18/7 and 22/7), the Staatskapelle Berlin, and the Teatro Colón’s Coro Estable. The opera is staged on 11, 14, 18 & 22 July.

Barenboim conducts the Staatskapelle Berlin in a complete cycle of the Brahms symphonies, performing the first and second on 13 & 17 July and the third and fourth on 15 & 19 July. The festival wraps on 20 July with Barenboim leading the Staatskapelle Berlin in Debussy’s Images and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.
