Live Streamed Performances at Pierre Boulez Saal

As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pierre Boulez Saal is offering free online streams through the digital concert series INTERMISSION. The initiative continues throughout April with Daniel Barenboim and chamber music partners performing a series of live concerts presented in partnership with Deutsche Grammophon, Medici.tv, and Mezzo.

Barenboim gives solo recitals on April 10, 19, and 24, performing Beethoven’s last major piano work, the “Diabelli Variations.” Violinist Michael Barenboim joins Barenboim for two all-Mozart programs featuring Violin Sonatas Nos. 32 & 33 (April 13) and Six Variations on “Hélas, j’ai perdu mon amant” paired with Violin Sonata No. 35 (April 17).

Daniel Barenboim observes, “Beethoven in so many of his late works, including the ‘Diabelli’ Variations, appears to me to enter into a state of total isolation from the world. I am very happy that, thanks to Deutsche Grammophon and its partners, hundreds of thousands of listeners around the world will be able to share in this experience as if they were with us at the Pierre Boulez Saal.”

Performances are streamed live at 7 pm CET/ 1 pm ET, and are available to watch for 72 hours after each event.
