Out in March 2017, Hommage À Boulez celebrates an association between Daniel Barenboim and Pierre Boulez that lasted for over fifty years. The recording features a selection of Boulez’s most iconic works, recorded at Boulez’s 85th birthday concert on the stage of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in 2010 and at the BBC Proms in 2012.
Co-founder Daniel Barenboim leads the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, and Boulez conducts members of the Divan and Hilary Summers in his Le Marteau sans maître.
The release coincides with the opening of the Pierre Boulez Saal, a new chamber music hall in Berlin. The hall is the public face of the Barenboim-Said Akademie, and was designed by architect Frank Gehry.
The album is released by Deutsche Grammophon and is available for purchase on 10 March.
