Leading up to the new year, Daniel Barenboim joins the Staatskapelle Berlin for two concerts featuring music by Mozart and Beethoven. The concerts celebrate the 450th anniversary year of the orchestra, which was founded in 1570 as the Kurbrandenburgische Hofkapelle.
Barenboim performs as a soloist and conductor for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 15 and conducts Beethoven’s famous Ninth Symphony with soloists Elena Stikhina (soprano), Marina Prudenskaya (mezzo-soprano), Andreas Schager (tenor), and René Pape (bass).
Performances run December 31 and January 1.
