On November 2 and 3, Daniel Barenboim conducts the Staatskapelle Berlin at the Philharmonie de Paris, leading the Complete Brahms Symphonies. A major interpreter of Brahms, Barenboim brings out the intense lyricism the works, conducting Symphonies 1 & 2 on November 2 and Symphonies 3 & 4 on November 3.
Later in November, the Staatskapelle returns to Berlin, performing at Staatsoper unter den Linden (November 11) and the Berlin Philharmonie (November 12). Barenboim leads the orchestra in performances of Saint-Saëns’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 3 in B minor and Symphony No. 3 in C minor (“Organ Symphony”). The orchestra is joined by soloists Lisa Batiashvili (violin) and Christian Schmitt (organ).
