Beginning May 26, Daniel Barenboim leads three performances of Giuseppe Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra, starring the legendary Plácido Domingo in the title role. Verdi’s opera follows the life of Simon Boccanegra, an imperfect yet deeply earnest man who, as Doge, must uphold his public duty while coping with the private burdens of loss and his filial duty. This production, directed by Federico Tiezzi, will be performed at the Staatsoper Berlin’s Schiller Theater on May 26, 28, and 31.
