Staatskapelle Berlin and Barenboim tour Spain

Music Director Daniel Barenboim and the Staatskapelle Berlin embark on a tour of Spain from July 4-7, 2015. On July 4, Barenboim and the Staatskapelle perform at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid. The program comprises Wagner’s Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Verdi’s Prelude to Act 1 of La Traviata and Prelude to La forza del destino, and Elgar’s Symphony No. 1.

On July 6, for the first of two concerts at the Palau de la Música Catlana in Barcelona, the orchestra will perform Wagner’s Prelude and “Good Friday Spell” from Parsifal as well as the Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, followed by Elgar’s Symphony No. 1.

The following day on July 7, Barenboim and the Staatskapelle pay tribute to Verdi, including the Overture of I vespri siciliani, the Overture and Prelude to Act III of La Traviata, the Overture of La forza del destino, and Quattro pezzi sacri.
