This month, three Wagner Operas at the Staatsoper Berlin

Over the course of three weeks, Daniel Barenboim leads performances of three Wagner operas at the Staatsoper Berlin: Tristan und Isolde (March 10, 18, 25), Das Rheingold (March 30), and Die Walküre (April 1). A premier Wagnerian, Barenboim has led several artistic initiatives devoted to the master operatic composer, including the three-week festival “Wagner and Modernism” with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, a Wagner marathon at the Staatsoper Berlin in 2002, and a recording of Wagner’s Tannhäuser with the Staatskapelle Berlin, which won the 2003 Grammy Award. Barenboim made his debut at the Bayreuth Festival in 1981 conducting Tristan und Isolde
