Verdi and Berg at Staatsoper Berlin

This month at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Daniel Barenboim conducts Verdi’s Macbeth (February 7 to 28) and two operas by Alban Berg: Lulu (February 21 to March 13) and Wozzeck (February 27 to March 14).

On February 18, the Staatsoper Music Director joins musicians of the Staatskapelle Berlin at the Schillertheater for a program comprised of chamber works by Schubert, Mozart, and Dvorak. In March, Barenboim leads two program devoted to the music of Alban Berg. On March 8, Barenboim and the Staatskapelle are joined by soprano Anna Prohaska and baritone Thomas Hampson for a concert featuring Berg’s Sieben frühe Lieder, Concert aria Der Wein and Three pieces for orchestra op. 6. On March 15, pianist Yefim Bronfman and violinist Pinchas Zuckerman guest with the Staatskapelle Berlin for Berg’s Chamber concerto for piano and violin with 13 wind instruments, Lyrische Suite, and Violin Concerto. Both concerts take place at the Philharmonie Berlin.
