At the Salzburger Festspiele

Daniel Barenboim returns to the Salzburger Festspiele for five performances this August.

On 18 August, Barenboim leads the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra in Richard Strauss’s Don Quixote with violist Miriam Manasherov and cellist Kian Soltani in a performance that also spotlights Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5.

Barenboim conducts the Divan in Shostakovich’s Concerto for piano, trumpet & strings in c minor with pianist Martha Argerich and trumpeter Bassam Mussad on 20 August. The program also comprises the music of Ravel and Berg.

With long-time collaborator Martha Argerich, Barenboim takes the stage in duo recital on 23 August. On 26 and 27 August, he leads the Wiener Philharmoniker in Mahler’s Symphony No 7.
