Daniel Barenboim and the Staatskapelle Berlin will perform the music of Brahms, Berg, and Strauss on March 6 at Berlin’s Philharmonie and on March 7 at Berlin’s Konzerthaus. The Austro-German program opens with Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 1, featuring Romanian-born pianist Radu Lupu. Soprano Rinnat Moriach then joins the Staatskapelle for Berg’s Lulu Suite, adapted from the Austrian composer’s operatic masterpiece Lulu, which Barenboim conducts at the Staatsoper Berlin from March 31 to April 14. Richard Strauss’s tone poem Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche – a musical account of the German folk hero and trickster – rounds out the program.
