On May 23, 26, and 30, Daniel Barenboim conducts Verdi’s Macbeth at Staatsoper unter den Linden. One of Verdi’s darkest and most starkly disturbing works, Macbeth‘s monumental choral scenes, expressive arias and duets, and deep psychology shattered the operatic conventions of its time.
The cast features the incomparable Plácido Domingo in the title role, alongside Ekaterina Semenchuk as Lady Macbeth and René Pape as Banquo in a production by Harry Kupfer.
