May with the Staatskapelle Berlin

General Music Director Daniel Barenboim appears across Europe with the Staatskapelle Berlin in 2018, performing for audiences in Berlin, Vienna, and Salzburg.

Barenboim and the orchestra continue their celebration of the music of Debussy on 1 & 3 May at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in a concert featuring soprano Anna Prohaska.

In Vienna, Barenboim conducts the Staatskapelle Berlin in an all-Debussy with Martha Argerich at the Musikverein on 7 May. On 9 May at the Musikverein, they are joined by Anna Prohaska and Marianne Crebassaalt for more Debussy. They perform selections from Wagner’s Parsifal plus Debussy’s Le Martyre de Saint-Sébastien with Prohaska, Crebbasa, and Maria Furtwängler on 10 May.

At the Salzburg Whitsun Festival, Barenboim leads the orchestra in music by Rossini and Tchaikovsky plus – with András Schiff – Grieg’s Piano Concerto in a minor on 20 May. Barenboim and the Staatskapelle Berlin are joined by Cecilia Bartoli, Rolando Villazón, and Jonas Kaufmann for music by Rossini and Wagner at the festival on 21 May.
