Puccini’s Tosca and Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde inaugurate Barenboim’s 2014/15 operatic performances in Berlin

Daniel Barenboim conducts his first operatic performances of the 2014/15 season at the Staatsoper Berlin with Puccini’s Tosca (October 3 – 19) and Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde (October 11 – 26).

The October performances of Tosca mark Daniel Barenboim’s first time conducting a Puccini opera. The production, staged by Alvis Hermanis, sees Anja Kampe in the title role, alongside Fabio Sartori as Cavaradossi, and Michael Volle as Scarpia.

Harry Kupfer’s production of Tristan und Isolde sees Peter Seiffert and Waltraud Meier in the titular roles, with Stephen Milling as King Marke, Roman Trekel as Kurwenal, Stephen Chambers as Melot, and Ekaterina Gubanoca as Brangäne.
